Shot putter Sophie Mckinna, aged 15, from Bradwell competed and won in her first outdoor competition of 2010 at Chelmsford on Good Friday.She maintained her position as No 1 in the U17 UK rankings with a new personal best and county record of 14.

Shot putter Sophie Mckinna, aged 15, from Bradwell competed and won in her first outdoor competition of 2010 at Chelmsford on Good Friday.

She maintained her position as No 1 in the U17 UK rankings with a new personal best and county record of 14.30 metres.

The distance also puts her at No 1 in the U20 rankings and at No 6 in the overall UK rankings, going above GB athlete Jessica Ennis.

It was also the fourth best ever throw in the U17 age group in the UK.
