Shot putter Sophie Mckinna of Great Yarmouth and District Athletic Club is the UK's No 1 in her age group.
She was competing at the Aviva U17 England Indoor Championships at the NIA at Birmingham last weekend under the guidance of former GB athlete Geoff Capes.
She was looking to build on her success from the England Southern Indoor Championships in January where she broke the championship record that had stood for 16 years.
And Sophie won the gold medal with a throw of 13.24 metres. This was a new personal best and a county record.
It was also the ninth best-ever throw in the UK within the age group and retains her UK top rating.
Sophie receives funding from the Norfolk Sports and Cultural Foundation.
Anyone interested in supporting this highly-rated young athlete can contact her father, Andrew Mckinna, on 07733 137206.
