Winterton all-rounder Danny Snowling had an afternoon to remember with both bat and ball - but still ended up on the losing side,

Snowling rose to the occasion in the Norfolk Alliance Division Three derby match against Acle A on Saturday, following up bowling figures of 4-14 in nine overs by scoring 84.

Yet it was Acle who secured the win to move up to second in the table, two points ahead of Martham, who also tasted victory.

Despite Snowling’s best efforts Acle A set a decent target of 221-9 in their 45 overs, with opener Rob Porter scoring 107 and Neil Moggan 44.

In reply Winterton were dismissed for 188 in the penultimate over, with skipper Ryan Edmonds (44) the only batsman to seriously trouble the scorers apart from Winterton’s star man.

Paul Munford (3-14) and Harrison Tooley (3-44) were the most successful Acle bowlers.

Winterton were in action for the second time in three days on Bank Holiday Monday and suffered another defeat, this time against Swardeston B at The Common.

Snowling again excelled with the bat, making 86 as his side fell 50 runs short when chasing a total of 291-8.

Flynn Drinkell (107) was the star man for Swardeston while Edmonds fell one run short of a half century and Ben Utting (36 not out) and Kevin Percival (26 not out) put on an unbeaten 64 as Winterton replied with 241-5.

Over at Martham Playing Field visitors Sprowston A were skittled out for 135 with Harish Chanchalani taking 5-24. Martham didn’t hang around in reply, clinching a seven wicket win in the 19th over with Louie Stronach belting 73 in just 44 balls.

Martham host Fakenham A on Saturday while Winterton visit Bungay and Acle A entertain Old Buckenham A.
