BLUNDESTON travelled to league leaders Hardingham A for a top-of the-table clash in Norfolk League Division Five and were asked to bat. Runs flowed until Nick Mobbs was bowled by Townsend.

Debutant John Shuttleworth joined Lewis and forged a good partnership seeing off the new ball before John was out for 18 to leg spinner Scott with a double bouncer. Lewis was run out by a direct hit from Scott for an entertaining 41. Martin Talbot watched as wickets fell in a hurry before fellow debutant Richard Keeler entertained with 25 before being stumped. Martin was 32 not out in a score of 156-9.

Openers Scott and Sparkes were patient early on and despite giving a few chances, dominated the Blundeston bowling. Nick Mobbs changed ends to get the only breakthrough when he removed Scott for 31, but the league leaders won in the 39th over by nine wickets. Skipper Sparkes completed his 100 with the last ball of the match. Next game is at home to Sprowston.

BLUNDESTON A entertained Hemsby A in their last home game of the season in Norfolk League Division Eight. On a drying wicket Hemsby were asked to bat. An accurate spell of bowling by H Buckley meant the runs were kept to a minimum. J Mobbs was replaced by P Maine (1-16) who then got the break through.

An injury to P Maine brought J Able (6-34) into the attack with instant success with N Billington (29) being the first of his six victims.

T Colk (43) got the home team worried with some lusty blows, but a beautifully-flighted delivery from Joel saw the batsman play too early and clean bowled.

T Mobbs (2-9) from five overs finished the tail for 127 all out.

After tea, opener T Mobbs (29) was happy to play second fiddle to H Buckey (64), who punished anything off the bowling line to bring his maiden 50 for the club.

The total was reached by J Mobbs (18no) and P Maine (1no). Blundeston have gone from bottom to third place in five weeks.
