TODAY sees the second day of the two-day meeting at Great Yarmouth with a further seven competitive events on the good going at the seaside track.

And there's a big clue for punters in the opening race on the seven-race card.

Top jockey Jamie Spencer is on the Michael Bell trained Lochan Mor in the 2pm six furlong sprint, his only ride of the day. Spencer should be too good for the rest on a horse beaten 13 days ago by a Sir Michael Stoute trained hotpot called Strictly. Lochan Mor should take swift compensation here, albeit at very short odds on.

Fifteen are declared for the six-furlong claimer at 2.35 in which I go for bottom weight Leftontheshelf. Fourth of four over seven furlongs at Redcar recently, the Tolley Dean ridden charge drops down in trip and in class and could take all the beating. Hinton Admiral, at the top of the weights, is the big danger if Richard Fahey's five-year-old can recapture some previous form.

In its last race, at Thirsk, On The Piste made a dreadful start but nevertheless finished third. Now the Frankie McDonald ride gets a chance to make amends in the five-furlong dash at 3.10pm.

If stripping fit for a first run of the season, the Mark Tompkins trained and Ted Durcan ridden Astroangel could pick up the 3.45pm mile handicap race.

The five-year-old mare rates a good prospect in a 16-runner handicap that might prove a better bet for each-way punters. One to keep an eye on at a reasonable price of around 12-1 could be Chinese Profit. The Luke Morris ridden four-year-old gelding was staying on over a shoter trip to finish second at Great Yarmouth almost three weeks ago and the extra furlong this time could help.

Seven furlongs is the distance again at 4.20pm for a tricky heat. Mudhish from the successful Clive Brittain yard was runner-up at Great Yarmouth 10 days ago and could go one step further. But others to watch out for are Convallaria and Hobson in a trappy affair.

Jockey Chris Catlin is always popular at Great Yarmouth and he has a good chance to adding to his list of winners in the five-furlong dash at 4.55pm. Well drawn on bottom weight Imaginary Diva, Catlin could be the man to follow as Imaginary Diva finished second last time out at Nottingham despite having to be switched in running.

Another 16-runner field closes the two-day meeting at 5.25pm over a mile and two furlongs. Ted Durcan is on Mick Channon's Screaming Brave who finished second at Redcar last time out over a trip of half a mile further than today's 10 furlongs. Likely favourite, Screaming brave may still have too much for the rest off a handy weight.

The race does also throw up a good opportunity again for each way punters and at around 14-1 I fancy Nick Littmoden's Valkyrie. The filly was sixth 11 days ago and this time has the help of five-pound claiming apprentice Mark Coumbe who recently pulled off some enterprising rides on the successful Sri Kuantan at the seaside track.
