Great Yarmouth race ace Smith won his first English title two years after claiming the British crown.

One of the favourites for the title, Harleston's Steven Jackson, was forced to retire early, leaving reigning world champion Jason Cooper leading for much of the race before Smith put the bumper in, forcing Cooper to crash out and carrying on to take the win.

On Sunday, 6.30pm, the National Bangers will be taking to the Yarmouth Stadium raceway in search of world qualifying points together with the 2-litre stock cars and the ministox.
