IN the Norfolk county age group championships at Thetford, Great Yarmouth Swiming Club had varied success. With over 80 entries in some races, medals were hard to come by.

IN the Norfolk county age group championships at Thetford, Great Yarmouth Swiming Club had varied success. With over 80 entries in some races, medals were hard to come by.

The most successful swimmer was Jack Utting with two first places in the 10 years 200m and 100m individual medley, seven seconds and one third spread over all four strokes.

Issac Kirby in the nine age group managed three third places in the 50m backstroke, breaststroke

and fly.

Callum McColgan in the 14 years age group came second in the 200m freestyle with fourth places in the 100m and 50m.

Shanise Webster, against tough opposition, swam to a second in the 100m breastroke, third in the 50m, with a fourth in the 100m individual medley.

Zoe Prettyman, who has shown remarkable progress over the last year, got a third in the 12 years 50m breaststroke and a sixth place in the 100m individual medley.

For the girls, swimmers placed in the first eight in all their races were Megan Newman, Katy Jarvis, Charlotte Smith, Xenia McColgan and Olivia Smith.

Other boys who took part were James Mann, Lawrence King, Declan Scott, Keiron Pyewell and Connor Webster.

Other club members who took part and gained personal best times were Paige Lovage, Laura Loveland, Kelly Pyewell, Ellie Holden, Hannah Robbins, Andrew Hacon, Ryan Driver, Ryan Trett and Tom Smith.
