On Saturday Great Yarmouth swam in the second round of the National Swimming League against strong opposition they could only manage fifth place. Kettering being the winners.

Half-term week saw Great Yarmouth welcome Linslade Crusaders for their annual training week at the high school pool.

There was a gala between the two clubs which resulted in a win for Great Yarmouth A with 171 points, Crusaders A 141, Crusaders B 128, Great Yarmouth B 88 and Great Yarmouth C 55.

Crusaders went into an early lead, but Yarmouth soon pulled back, and once in front stayed there until the finish.

First places came for the girls from Danielle Page, Taylor Hudson, Ellie Holden, Adelaide Loveland, Olivier Smith, Kelly Pyewell, Zoe Prettyman and Megan Newman.

The boys saw wins for Isaac Kirby, Jack Utting, Keelan Pyewell and Harry Yussuff.

The younger swimmers taking part equipped themselves well with Bethany Burwood, Ellie Newman, Jack Colby, Ethan Mayes Smith and Patrick Manning gaining second places. Swimming up an age group and just missing out on a second place were Lauren James, Lauren Cotton, Emily Acland and Aaron Hudson.

The highlight of the gala were the parents' races. With the children cheering them on and surprised how fast they could swim the result was Crusaders winning the medley relay and Great Yarmouth the freestyle.

Seven swimmers from the club have been picked to swim for Norfolk in December in an inter-counties gala at Cambridge. They are

Jack Utting, Isaac Kirby, Keelan Pyewell, Olivier Smith, Zoe Prettyman, Shanise Webster and Emily Pestka.

The club has been given a laptop computer by Certex UK which will help with the teaching and training of our swimmers.
