Swimming squad promoted
At Thetford on Saturday in the final round of the Suffolk Winter League, Great Yarmouth SC (pictured) needed a first place to clinch promotion.A fine team effort saw just that, an excellent win took them up to the first division: Great Yarmouth 208, Felixstowe 202, Thetford 188, Leiston 160, Deben 143.

A fine team effort saw just that, an excellent win took them up to the first division: Great Yarmouth 208, Felixstowe 202, Thetford 188, Leiston 160, Deben 143.
They also won the trophy for the best supported team.
The formidable pairing of Isaac Kirby and Jack Utting got the team off to a good start with first places for Isaac breaststroke and fly, and Jack freestyle and back.
The 15/u boys kept the tempo up with firsts for Connor Webster backstroke, and Tom Smith fly with a second in freestyle, Daniel Henderson came in with a second place breaststroke. The open boys found the opposition strong and only George Goldspink, second place breaststroke, and Lawrence King, third backstroke, could get in the first three.
The 11/u girls came in with a first for the ever-improving Grace Baxter freestyle and two seconds for Danielle Page breaststroke and fly - all with personal best times

The 13/u girls held the ship steady with second places from Ellie Holden backstroke and Laura Loveland breaststroke.
Felixstowe were now hot on Yarmouth's heels and it needed an excellent freestyle swim from Zoe Prettyman to keep them ahead.
Any fears were soon dispelled with four first places from the open girls, Grace Hubbard freestyle and backstroke; Shanise Webster breaststroke; Charlie Smith IM.
Excellent support swimming came from Taylor Hudson, Adelaide Loveland, Natasha Pestka, Kelly Pyewell, Olivia Smith, Jake Honey, Patrick Manning, Adam Brewin, James Mann, and Brandon Tennant, all of whom achieved personal best times in their events.
