The Greens made three changes to the team that had beaten Kirkley in midweek with Luke Goreham and Jason Thompson out and Harley Clements on the bench. In came Alex Kounnas, Isaac Burrage and Joel Watts.

It’s been more like Goal-ston lately, with the Greens scoring three goals or more in three of their previous four games - and two more found the back of the net before the sixth minute.

Gorleston went in front in the fourth minute. Captain Kyle Ingram sprayed the ball wide to Jack Garrod whose drilled cross was palmed away by Alex Archer, with Connor Ingram thumping home the loose ball.

Two minutes later Gorleston doubled their lead. Kounnas picked out Peter Lambert who brought it down, turned and finished with aplomb.

The visitors pulled one back in the 16th minute when Steve Spriggs got into the box too easily before hitting a low shot into the bottom corner. The game was back to all square in the 20th minute when Newmarket were awarded a free-kick which was lifted into the box where Lloyd Groves arrived for a free header.

The Jockeys took the lead on the stroke of half-time when a corner was only partly cleared and fell to Regan McGeorge on the edge of the box. He shot the ball goalwards and Austen Diaper was on hand to divert the ball home.

Gorleston were back on level terms in the 62nd minute. Connor Deeks drove into the box and pulled the ball back towards Connor Ingram who rather scuffed his effort but the ball fell nicely back to Deeks who planted it into the net.

The Greens’ joy at drawing level then immediately disappeared. Another Newmarket ball into the box saw Chris Bacon jump into Molloy with the keeper knocked back over the line as Gorleston cleared. The referee saw nothing wrong, Molloy let his feelings be known and was promptly shown a red card.

Gary Ingram came on in goal and Gorleston did an excellent job of keeping the visitors at bay.

But, with a minute to go came the sucker punch, with substitute Steve Holder nodding home after a long throw was only half cleared.

Gorleston: Molloy, Hitch, Kounnas, McKay (Hannant 90), Burrage, Deeks, Garrod (G Ingram 64), K Ingram, Lambert, C Ingram (Fatadjo 84), Watts.
