SLIMLINE Nathan Thompson proved to be just the tonic for Anglian Combination Premier Division table-toppers Acle as they continued their best top-flight start for 10 years.

And he made life a misery for Hindringham's central defensive pair of Defew and Saunders who battled hard to even find him at times as he was in such fine form.

After 43 minutes the game was over as a contest and had it been a boxing match the referee would have stopped the bout at half-time.

After only three minutes the hosts got their noses in front when Ben Morgan eased his way down United's right wing past Chilvers, Tuck and Hood before squaring a perfect ball into the path of Holdsworth who headed in past Cracknell in the visitors goal.

Three minutes later and the hosts got a grip on proceedings with a goal out of the top drawer. Morgan fed a ball which found Thompson on the edge of the penalty area and in one movement Acle's striker had brought the ball down with his left and unleashed a venomous drive with his right that nestled in the corner with Cracknell a mere spectator between the sticks.

On a rare visit into Acle's half the visitors scored a tremendous goal when Stockdale hit a pile-driver that bounced over the line after coming back off the underside of the bar giving Scott Foreman no chance.

Hindringham's joy was short-lived as with only 20 minutes on the clock Ben Morgan again got the better of two defenders and weaved in from the right wing before rolling a lovely pass before Chilvers or Defew could tackle him and Thompson put the ball in the net for the hosts third of the game.

Holdsworth sent a left-footed effort into the corner of the net to give the hosts a 4-1 lead at the break. The second period brought more of the same but the hosts took the foot off the pedal although playing some nice one-touch stuff that the crowd enjoyed Warren Nicholls scored the fifth by getting on the end of a square centred ball from Curtis and heading into the corner.

Nicholls then scored again after a fine run from Daniel Foreman allowed him to hammer home from eight yards. With three minutes left a through ball found Curtis beating the offside trap and winning the one on one race with keeper Cracknell to see his effort finish in the back of the net and the hosts certainly spelt out that they are the team nobody will want to draw in the next round.
