Great Yarmouth Town maintained their unbeaten streak after having to dig deep into the squad with only 12 first team regulars available.

Youngsters Logan Lonergan and Zach le Picque were drafted in against a side that were bang in-form, having not lost since a defeat against league leaders Felixstowe back in October.

The visitors began the game well and the home side were grateful to Urry who blocked a goalbound shot after a sustained spell of pressure.

On his home debut, Cain Eagleton was showing his value with a solid start to the game in midfield and contributed to the Bloaters’ goal. A pass to Lewis saw the big midfielder advance through the Rovers’ half and as he was closed down by the full back, he played a perfectly-weighted ball to Hadyn Davis who took a touch and fired home an unstoppable shot from 15 yards.

The classy visitors were playing good football from the back but were frustrated by a home side desperate to protect their lead. The best chance for an equaliser came when Matty Allen wriggled his way past a couple of defenders but his shot whistled past the post.

The Bloaters almost got a second when a Whatmough free-kick found Andersen in behind the Rovers’ defence but his low cross was scrambled away.

The home side made a change at half-time with an out-of-sorts Mitch Forbes replaced by Kieran Hagan. Hagan was immediately into the action when his trickery caused problems that Rovers managed to eventually scramble away. Hagan and Sanders exchanged passes and found Davis in space but this time Peachey made a comfortable save.

After a positive start by the home side the visitors began to control the midfield and threw players forwards, in a bid to find the equaliser.

The Bloaters’ back four were having a good day however with Howell, Andersen, Urry and Ager all holding their own, ably backed up by keeper Whatmough. As the watch ticked towards the 90-minute mark, a deflected shot by sub Coe earned the visitors a corner which was cleared off the line. Midfielder Ben Lewis was the Barry’s Antiques man-of-the-match.
