Rollesby skipper Matt Duxbury led by example with a sparkling unbeaten century as reigning champions Rollesby returned to the top of the Norfolk League Division One.

A convincing derby victory over Caister saw Rollesby share top billing with Sprowston B, who picked up fewer points in their two-wicket win over fellow high-flyers Yarmouth.

Caister skipper Tennant won the toss and elected to field even though the visitors travelled with only nine men.

Browning and Duxbury got Rollesby off to a solid start taking the score to 38 before Browning was dismissed caught by Church off Oxborough for 21 and in the process going past last year’s tally of runs. T Oxborough bowled a great spell taking 1 for 33. Chaney was soon dismissed for 7 in comical fashion missing a double bouncer from Myhill before deflecting the ball on to his stumps with his pad before ending up on the floor.

Duxbury continued to progress the scoring well punishing any loose deliveries and Derry increased the tempo with a breezy 17.

When Derry was dismissed Alger joined Duxbury and the pair upped the scoring rate adding 99 in 13 overs until Alger was dismissed for 49 caught on the boundary to give Myhill his third wicket. Duxbury continued to score freely and brought up a chanceless hundred in the penultimate over of the match finishing unbeaten on 107 with George Barnden unbeaten on 6.

Rollesby finished with 219 off their 45 overs. The Caister reply never really got going as the Rollesby bowlers strangled the runs with Caister eventually being bowled out for 69 in the 44th over. Paul Vickers was the pick of the Rollesby bowling taking 3-20 with support from Alger 2-9, Flett 2-8, Nunn 1-12 and the miserly Sparkes.

Fleggburgh Kings Head MOM: Matt Duxbury for an excellent 107 not out.
