Great Yarmouth Town made it four undefeated games this season with a comfortable Ridgeons League Division One 2-0 win over Ipswich Wanderers on Saturday.

Manager Paul Tong was quick to praise the endeavour of his squad, with injuries and unavailability giving all a chance to play their part.

Tong said: “It is important for players to take this on-board and it keeps them on their toes. I like it when there is competition for places and the lads are really enjoying it.

“It is early days in the league as yet and without being over-confident we are happy at the moment with the way things are going.”

Tomorrow see the first X1 travel to the infamous slope at Swaffham, which is always a tough place to get a result. Injuries still plague the Bloaters with Marcus Saunders, Alan Darby and Adie Agar all slowly, but surely, returning to fitness.

Stewart Roach followed up last week's hat-trick with a real strikers' brace in Great Yarmouth's fine 2-0 win over Ipswich Wanderers.

The Bloaters' leading poacher used all his experience to bulldoze his way through the Wanderers' defence to guide the ball home on 44 minutes.

Just a minute later Roach was on hand again to score one of his trademark goals that Ridgeons League defences have come to fear.

From three yards out and his back to goal he let fly with an acrobatic overhead kick the beat keeper Hammond with ease.

Disappointingly only 63 spectators saw the Bloaters complete the league's first double of the season in this re-arranged fixture.

Yarmouth manager Paul Tong has put together a really talented squad and relied on the same team which beat Team Bury in mid-week.

Toby Gourbold, so often on the bench this season gave his all as did the under-rated Oliver Savage, while Craig Roberts has filled his role with distinction.

Manager Tong had the luxury of three good subs, with Jose Vide the first off the bench to cause mayhem in the visitor's defence.

Having recovered from illness Jake Reed also came on to have a good spell and Dominic Smith proved a real class act.

It is still early days but the signs are most encouraging for the Bloaters.
