A strong wind running post to post gave the promotion-hunting home side a considerable advantage in the first half, which they utilised to full effect, building a 25-0 lead.

Broadland battled hard in the second half but did not take full advantage of the elements, leaving a disappointing result for the Great Yarmouth side.

The wind was such a factor that balls kicked with the wind were travelling 60 meters with ease Broadland full back Doggett and wings Raven and Collings were bombarded with high balls which they were forced to run out from deep.

Broadland were more than holding their own in the scrum and after a couple of poor early lineouts hooker Ross Taylor was connecting well.

Territorial advantage was eventually turned into points as Ipswich went over for a converted score in the corner, followed by a penalty.

Broadland had a couple of good breaks with Stacey Ledgerwood putting in a good run, with Ed Dixon providing some excellent support.

Ipswich, however, just kept booting the ball deep and pinning Broadland back. The final 10 minutes of the half were Broadland's undoing as three further tries were scored in quick succession.

Broadland struck back early in the second half as fly half Ash Lightfoot neatly chipped over a penalty. Broadland were containing Ipswich well and with the wind began a barrage of kicks, but Ipswich coped with the high balls.

The Broadland pack were in good form, and it was in the tight play that Broadland were gaining ground. Second rows Sam French and Royce Chiddle were providing a solid platform in the rucks and this was allowing scrum half Simon Ruddick to bring the back row into play on the short pass.

But despite Broadland's good play they could not put in the score. Towards the end of the game a break saw Ipswich put over the final unconverted try of the game.
