The annual meeting and awards night of the Great Yarmouth and District Athletic Club was held at the Kings Centre.

On his re-election club secretary Gary Wakeley reflected on the progress that had been made last season and his hopes of finally reaching Club Mark status this season.

The president of the club Paul Garrod made the presentations, with the best performance by a female athlete again going to the nationally ranked Sophie McKinna.

The international shot putter took the award for her superb effort of 17.14m and will now be hoping to build on that effort over the course of the 2017 season.

The best male performance was produced by Under-15 boy Tyler Bilyard who ran a time of 2:08.66 in the 800 metres. A new trophy was awarded in memory of member John Simpson for services to the club and this was presented to Alan Jones by Sylvia Simpson.
