It has been a tough start to the season for Acle, with both the first team and the reserves losing again at the weekend.

Acle travelled to last season’s runners-up Harleston in the Premier Division of the Anglian Combination and went down 6-2.

Mark Pearce (2), Nicky Howell (2), Connor Delaney and Nathan Page scored for Harleston with Stephen Drake and Harrison Tooley grabbing the consolation goals for the visitors.

Acle, who also lost their first game, will be attempting to get their campaign up and running when they visit Waveney tomorrow (2.30pm).

In Division Two Acle Reserves suffered a fourth straight defeat when they went down 5-2 at

Wells Town.

The visitors welcomed new signing Adcock and also Fungamwango and Howes to the squad following recent transfer activity, but the team were hit by an injury to Purton-Turner, leaving outfielder Marshall having to go in goal.

Acle started well and looked in confident mood despite an uncertain start to the season, however disaster struck in the seventh minute when Marshall played a simple pass to Collins Reed who was closed down quickly and lost possession, allowing the home striker to finish easily.

In the 18th minute Acle’s defence was unlocked again following a long ball and the lively striker nipped in to score.

Fungamwango had a good chance to score following a quality ball into the penalty area but failed to convert and Adcock had a long shot in the 38th minute which grazed the crossbar.

Acle had the majority of the play leading up to half-time but following a loss of possession conceded another goal to another long pass.

They pulled one back in the 50th minute when the ball ended up at Body’s feet from a corner and he finished well from 12 yards.

Confidence was up and Fungamwango was released by Howes and looked certain to score but the ball went wide.

Against the run of play Wells increased their lead following a determined run before Collins-Reed bundled the ball home following a corner to reduce the arrears.

In the dying minutes however, Wells completed the scoring with a well taken finish.

The Reserves travel to East Harling on Saturday.
