Pub On The Shrubs Great Yarmouth & District Football League

A Saturday morning deluge put paid to most of the fixtures. However three did survive.

One of these was the Norfolk Junior Cup third round tie at Brandon as Feltwell United, last season’s Central Norfolk champions now of the Anglian Combination, took on Albion Tramway.

Despite having the better of the game and chances, Albion failed to take advantage and were punished as Feltwell booked their place in the last 16 with a 2-1 victory.

Haven Bridge United and Catfield will both try again this week as they face circle Anglia and Scole on the Beaconsfield and Ormesby respectively. All other games involving top flight clubs were postponed.

However two games did survive the weather in Division Two.

GY Peelers took full advantage by winning the Lynn Grove derby 8-1 against Grosvenor Casino and moving to the top in the process.

The other game to survive saw a five-goal thriller at Burgh Castle as MK Reserves shaded it over Prostar Windows. There is a venue change this week as Filby v Wanderers will now be at Filby.

This week as well as our two junior cup sides. four of our Division Two sides will be looking for places in the last 16 of the Primary Cup.

One is guaranteed as MK Reserves battle Caister United A in an all- league tie - Ryan Starkey.
