Great Yarmouth’s Triple S Fight Team travelled to Birmingham to compete in the Thai, K1 and Kickboxing Championships over two days.

It was a long and tiring weekend and the competition was of the highest standard.

Keira Sayer in the Thai made it through to the final only to be pipped to the gold by a strong opponent from Manchester.

Remy Sayer was up next in what was described by the officials as the category of the day. Remy made it through to the semi-finals where he faced a tough fighter from Birmingham. Three tough rounds saw Remy victorious and through to the final.

In the final he faced another tough opponent from the renowned Assassins Gym in Melton Mowbray. Once again the fight went to the scorecards where Remy was announced the winner and the new WKU International Thai Boxing Champion.

Day Two of the tournament saw all three of the Triple S Fight Team in action in the K1 and Kickboxing categories.

Sayer made it through to the final after hard preliminary rounds before winning with a unanimous decision to become the -35kg WKU British Open kickboxing champion.

She then entered in to the -40kg category going through to the final and beating a tough girl over 4kg heavier and winning once again to become the -40kg champion as well. Keira was back in action in the K1, making light work of her competitors and winning the final to take the K1 British Open Title to add to her haul.

Sayer made the Kickboxing final and won on all three judges’ scorecards to be crowned the WKU British Open champion.

Tia Sayer, 18, entering for the first time as a adult after a successful amateur career, carried on where she left off to reach the final where she faced a tough 25-year-old and had to use all her knowledge, skill and power to get through the three rounds to become the WKU British open K1 Champion.

A big thank you to all the coaches at Lenny Boys’ Gym for giving their time to help train these promising youngsters.
