EIGHT hundred kickboxing fans roared Bin Tyler of 3 Lions Gym to a first-round knockout of Portugal's Nuno 'Duran' Correia at the Ocean Room.

Correia, challenging for Tyler's world lightweight title, had no answer to Tyler's devastating leg kicks, and after taking two kicks just above the knee he was counted out as he could not stand up.

Tyler thus retained his title by first round knockout against one of the most-highly rated fighters in the world.

His coach Dave Munro said: “This was a huge win for Bin as most experts felt that Nuno would be too strong and too experienced for him and that he would be taking the title back to Portugal. But Bin beat him in every department, his boxing looked sharper, and his kicks were faster and more powerful. He was in control from the opening second.”

Dan Dawson, 16, represented England against Five Nations and Irish champion Dillon O'Connor in a K1 rules fight.

Again the more experienced Irish lad was favourite to win, but the 3 Lions lad used his powerful low kicks and knees to take a comfortable points win in a bout that won him fighter of the night.

Charlotte Broom (13), having only her fourth bout, beat Irish world silver medallist Bethany Barret on points in a powerful display.

Aaron Lewis won his K1 battle with Norwich MMA's game Scott Hanks, Lewis's powerful low kicks wore Hanks down and the fight finished with a right hand, Lewis winning by first round TKO.

Battling brothers Josh and Kelvin Allen showed huge improvement, both winning their bouts by stoppage, Josh beating his Ipswich opponent Harry Dean by first round retirement, and Kelvin making his full contact debut stopping Ireland's Dave Keogh with a body punch in round two.

Marty Duke beat Norwich's Dave Elvin in their white collar boxing bout, Duke looking the best he has for ages.

Lowestoft's Carlos Regini-Moran (10) beat Newark's far more experienced Thomas Rawlinson for the WKA English schoolboy -30 kilos title over five rounds in a hotly-contested bout that saw Moran coming on strong in the final two rounds as Rawlinson tired.

Kelsea Carroll and Remy Sayer also both won their light continuous bouts. Nicky McHugh (nine) and world junior champion Cameron McGarrigle (15) both looked class in their demo bouts.

Arron Monson beat Harleston's Ian Hardy on points in their bout. Jack Docherty (16) drew his bout with the heavier Luke Baker (NMA Newark).

The 3 Lions Gym lost only one bout out of 15 fights against top-quality domestic and international opposition. A great day for the club.

The gym thanked the Great Yarmouth public and sponsors for again voting with their feet and packing out the Ocean Room in this England Junior Squad fundraising event.
