At home to Woodlands, who were one place above them in the league, Acle Indoor Bowls Club’s Men’s B were looking to continue their recent winning run.

Ian Anderson, Sid Siely, Bill Downie and Brian Grint were 5-6 at five ends then scored two good fours and by 10 ends had moved to 17-9. Playing well as a team they were 20-13 at 15 and won 25-17.

Adam Carter, Brian Kirby, John Harris and Wyn Willimott went from 6-1 up to 7-11 down at 10 ends, a four on the 12th followed by a five on the 13th made it 17-11, by 15 it was 19-12 and they went on to win 23-16. Alan Benson-Nutt’s rink dropped a six on the fourth end and were 8-16 down at 11 then 16 each at 14, 20-19 with two ends to play but lost 20-22. Barney Wymers rink dropped a six on the ninth to go 8-16 down, came back to 18-21 with two to play but lost 18-26. Result 86-81 and 5-2 points.

However, the Men’s A struggled at Diss.

A 77-77 draw away to the relegation-threatened side was a disappointing result for the A team.

Leading throughout, they were pegged back on the very last end on a measure.

David Cole, Geoff Ramsbottom, Tony Dunton and Danny Ramsbottom lost 32-13. They made a great start, leading 11-5 at nine ends but only won one of the remaining 12, dropping some big ends, including a six, a four and two threes.

Will Pitt, Ivan Borrett, Simon Elliott and Jamie Howlett lost 21-16. They made a slow start and were 12-0 down after six ends but they turned the score around to lead 16-13 at 16 ends only to lose the last five ends.

Mark Elliott, John Sparrow, Danny Mills and George Tubby won 20-15. They made a good start, leading 10-3 at nine ends and looked in control until they dropped a seven on the 18th end to bring the score back to 17-14.

Daniel Seabourne, Roy Himpleman, Daniel Noble and Ian Wones won 28-9. A four on the sixth end saw them go 11-2 up. In control throughout they picked up a further four and three to run out comfortable winners, only dropping six ends during the entire game.

Next week’s double fixture away to Norfolk Bowls Club and at home to County Arts will be crucial matches and are likely to determine whether or not Acle win the league.
