GREAT YARMOUTH returned to winning ways on Saturday with a comprehensive Norfolk League Division One 10-wicket win over an understrength Shipdham side.

Able to field two sides at the start of the season the visitors were down to eight fit players and despite a plucky effort were no match for a team hungry to bounce back from a recent poor run. Deciding to bat first the Shipdham openers were initially positive before Vickers made the initial breakthrough when Dodd (9) picked out Hodds who completed was just able to reach the ball above his head and palmed it up to then complete the catch on the second effort. Vickers then blew away the middle order with batsmen 3 to 6 all bowled by the Yarmouth seamer with only one run between them. Captain Read had shown resistance but also succumbed to Vickers, caught by Sole at short leg for 19. Ruddick prevented a Vickers clean sweep when he picked up the final wicket. Vickers finishing with stunning figures of 8.4-2-8-6.

Any hope Shipdham had of pulling off an upset vanished in the first over as 17 runs were plundered with Hak hitting the last four balls to the boundary. With runs coming from both ends the required runs were knocked off in just 34 balls with Hak 28 not out and Fitzsimmons 13 not out.
