Oriel were the hosts of the East Norfolk School Sport Partnership Mixed Volleyball Competition. With the Gorleston and Great Yarmouth Volleyball Club based at the school, Oriel and Great Yarmouth were favourites for the two county final places up for grabs.

With Cliff Park and Lynn Grove entering mixed teams, a strong round robin saw Great Yarmouth edging out Cliff Park in a closely contested 25-15 thriller.

Representatives from G&GYVC were on hand, providing tips and expertise.

A series of set and smash combos saw Oriel win all three matches and become the partnership winners. The second place in the county final goes to Great Yarmouth who were just pipped to first place in a tournament-deciding game against Oriel,

16-25.

Oriel and Great Yarmouth go through to represent East Norfolk at the Norfolk County Final, UEA, on February 25, 9.30am-1.30pm.

Stuart Brunton-Douglas, competition manager said: “May I thank our volunteer referees and Gorleston and Great Yarmouth Volleyball Club for providing their expertise on the day. “Today just goes to show how much fun sport can be and how important local clubs are to the development of sport in this country.”

Thank goes to David Richards, Oriel the hosts, referees from UEA and Great Yarmouth and Gorleston Volleyball Club representatives for attending.
