Browston Hall Bowls Club’s featured match this weekend was against the Suffolk Vice Presidents. This is always a tough event as the VPs always send top-class bowlers.
Browston fought to the end but lost 119-105. Best rink was Bill Turner’s block of Len Medler, Julie Harlow and Ken Saward who came through 20-13.
Diane Purnell followed with a 27-22 win assisted by Derek Allison, Jack Hill and June Dhonau when despite being 21 all at the 19th end, a fine six soon sorted that out. Shirley Lloyd, Mike Harvey, Kim Grace and Irene Hill managed to squeak home 17-16.
Neville Miller, Vic Cockett, Richard Wetherall and Jan Payne slipped to 12-20 defeat whilst Mick Blandford, Owen Smith, Sue Cockett and Pat Drinkall also succumbed 16-25 and John Spooner with Mel Bye, Peter Williams and Pam Spooner went under 13-23.
