It was Wiltshire Cup time as the league’s premier cup competition reached the last 16 stage as teams went searching for a place in the quarter-finals.

Maybe one of the ties of the round was the clash at Ormesby as the top two in Division Two met. Wanderers have just started to have some indifferent form of late and were looking to put a nail into one of their rival’s cup hopes in Yarmouth Peelers. In a tight game that saw two penalties it was the home side who took the honours 2-1 despite a consolation from Rory Abel. This was a win that could have an influential bearing on other trophies as well for these two clubs. Caister A meanwhile were handed the honours of hosting Catfield last seasons beating finalists. Despite putting up a brave performance Caister bowed out of the second cup competition in a week as Catfield triumphed 7-1.

Albion Tramway, looking to make it three Wiltshire Cup finals in four years, took on Bohemians on the Magdalen. Despite a no-show by the referee the home side progressed comfortably with a 10-0 win. The holders Caister Roma are also into the last eight as they defeated second division new boys Grosvenor Casino 7-1 at Lynn Grove as they look to repeat last season’s triumph. Prostar Windows will also join them in the last eight after they were handed a walkover after Yarmouth United withdrew from the league. Ties involving Haven Bridge, Yarmouth International, Filby & Runham v MK Shrubs and South Yarmouth v Martham A were all postponed and will be played in the new year.

The draw for the quarter-finals will be made at the league committee meeting on December 19. Meanwhile the draw for the 1st round and quarter-finals of the Percy Nockolds Trophy will be made as teams who have exited the Wiltshire Cup go into this trophy and will also be joined by Caister Roma Reserves and MK Shrubs Reserves. They was one game played in Division Two on Saturday and this saw MK Shrubs Reserves pick up three points to move up the table in a 4-1 win over Caister Roma Reserves.

All clubs should now have fixtures for January by email. Any club who has not got this please let the secretary know - Ryan Starkey.
