Acle, fourth in the Norfolk Alliance Premier Division, entertained and beat bottom club Old Buckenham by four wickets at Bridewell Lane in a game sponsored by Paul Barnard.

Acle won the toss and elected to bowl first. They got off to a great start as Grady trapped Old Buckenham captain Terry Perry lbw for nought with the score on two.

Josh Rowe then had overseas star Withanage caught at mid-on for two in the next over. With the score on 12-2, Player and Fudge set about rebuilding the Old Buckenham innings.

The pair put on 60, but with Franks and Newman bowling in tandem and keeping things tight, the pressure built and Player was trapped lbw by Franks for 35. Franks then dismissed Banham (0) while Newman continued to build the pressure by bowling his 13 overs for just 14 runs.

Franks had Fudge (40) caught in the deep, and Bucks then went for broke in the last six overs and managed to post a total of 160-8 from their allocated 50 overs. Andy Franks was the pick of the Acle bowlers with figures of 3-34.

Rob Porter and Adam Munford set about the task of knocking the runs off, and as usual they began positively. Porter smashed Goldsmith for two sixes in his opening spell, but the rain came and juiced up the pitch a touch.

When the Acle batsmen returned, Munford was deceived by the extra bounce and pace and was caught at point by Ben Player for seven. Ward joined Porter and the pair struggled against the good spin bowling of Savage and Howes.

However, Acle were never too far behind the run rate, and when Porter was caught by Mann off the bowling of Savage, Paul Munford and Ward began to set about the attack and increase the run rate.

Munford (8) was run out, and Tom Wilson joined Ward before the latter was trapped lbw by Heany for 22. Huggins was trapped lbw first ball, and with the score on 99-5, Wilson and Paul Newman set about the task of rebuilding the Acle innings. The pair batted superbly and took the score up to 148 before Newman was caught and bowled by a rising ball bowled by Withanage. However, Wilson continued to bat positively and smashed two fours in the next over. With support from Geoff Handley, he saw the home side to victory by four wickets with 2.2 overs remaining.
