Wheelchair tennis star Alfie Hewett will make his debut at Wimbledon this year.
The 17-year-old, inset, described it as “a dream come true” to have earned a wildcard to appear at the All England Club.
Hewett will play in the wheelchair doubles with Joachim Gerrard, from Belgium.
The Acle High School pupil made his senior Great Britain debut recently and helped his team win the World Group in the wheelchair tennis World Team Cup for the first time ever. He is already a world junior masters champion in both singles and doubles and is comfortably ranked number one in the world junior rankings.
His World Group win over France’s Michael Jeremiasz also helped lift him to 16th in the senior world rankings, one place behind compatriot Marc McCarroll while fellow Brit Gordon Reid leads the charge for the home nations in third position.
