CAISTER were on their travels again in Dolphin Autos Anglian Combination Division Two.

With both teams near the top of the table this match was always going to be a close encounter.

Saints started the better team and seemed to enjoy more of the possession, but they didn't have the penetration to break down Caister's dogged defence and caused Beales in the Caister goal very few problems.

After 15 minutes Corke came

off injured and had to be replaced by Hacon.

The reshuffle worked in Caister's favour and they were soon in front.

A defence-splitting ball found Blake, who had space and time to beat the home keeper.

St John's kept up the pressure but were still unable to crack the Caister rearguard, and on the half-hour mark Caister doubled their lead. This time it was Fitzgerald who beat the offside trap to score. It was a just reward for a tireless display

from the lone striker.

At half-time Caister lost the impressive Boughen with a hamstring injury and Pat Newby came on to make his debut for the first team.

Caister enjoyed more off the possession.

Crane, who had a good match on the right wing, had two good efforts go just wide. St John's finally began to threaten the Caister goal and Beales had to pull off two very good saves, one a point-blank header that he tipped over the bar.

This was another good win for Caister and credit should go to all the players for a very determined effort.

Next, away to Corton, meet at 1.15pm, kick-off at 2.30.
