Blundeston reached the halfway stage of the season with a visit to Hales Colts and made it seven wins in a row, their best run of consecutive wins.

On a wicket, which looked like it might misbehave, Hales chose to field.

They got off to a flying start when A Taylor removed Graeme Talbot in the first over.

However, this just brought Elliott Gooch to the crease who seemed in an uncompromising mood and with Nick Mobbs looking good again they proceeded to put on 70 in 10 overs before Elliott was unlucky to be given out lbw just short of his half- century.

Martin Talbot joined Nick and they put on 83 in the next 18 overs as Blundeston continued to punish anything off line. Nick reached 66 before a top edge was well caught by J Cook.

It was Cook, with some accurate spin bowling, which dragged the run rate back and ended with three wickets.

Chris Burgess added a quick 18 and Martin Talbot went for 29 as he tried to up the run rate against Cook as the 200 loomed near.

With seven overs left a big score looked on but the innings fell away as the efforts to increase the scoring backfired.

Sam Goffin returned a catch to Cook and two unfortunate run-outs for Tom Miller and Saurabh Verma, returning fresh from his sabbatical, followed soon after.

With Lewis Chapman hoping for a partner he was left high and dry after Adam Palmer and Alan Fulwood both fell finishing the innings one over short of the 45, but with maximum batting points secured.

Elliott Gooch, who opened the bowling with pace, decimated the Hales innings and accuracy he tore through the top order, finishing 5-15.

With Adam Palmer opening from the other end in his first league game for the club bowling accurately and picking up two wickets of his own Hales were left on 35-7 when the first change of bowling was made after 11 overs.

Martin Talbot replaced Adam and bowled a wicket maiden first up, but it was left to Tom Miller to finish things with two wickets in his second over to finish with his best figures of 2-5 as the end came in just 15 overs.

It proved to be a good toss to lose as, if anything, the wicket misbehaved more as the game went on.

This weekend Blundeston are away to Hethersett as the second half of the season starts.
