Great Yarmouth Sunday League outfit Windmill will be hoping it’s a case of third time lucky next Wednesday evening when they run out at Carrow Road.

Having won the Division One title without dropping a point Windmill will be aiming to add more silverware to their collection when they take on CKSA Emneth in the final of the Norfolk Sunday Senior Cup.

The team have twice reached the county final in recent seasons but lost narrowly to Norwich sides on each occasion, going down 2-1 to AFC Wanderers in 2013-4 and 3-2 to Doghouse 3-2.

Standing in their way this time are a team from the far west of the county who took the King’s Lynn Sunday League Division One title after winning 13 or their 14 games.

Windmill reached the final by beating DE FC 4-3 thanks to a stoppage time winner while Emneth prevented it from being an all Great Yarmouth final by beating 2014-15 runners-up El Sol 4-1 on penalties after drawing 2-2 at the end of extra-time.

Wednesday’s match at the home of Norwich City kicks-off at 7.30pn and admission prices are adults £5 and concessions £3 (on the door).

Meanwile local businessman Alan Peace was named Caister FC’s new chairman at the club’s annual meeting.

He has a 40 year association with the club, having previously played for the Lifeboatmen, while more recently he has sponsored the club and joined the committee.

Caister are looking to recruit a new reserve team manager for 2017-18 after Dan Bartram announced he is to stand down after guiding the team to a 10th place finish in Anglian Combination Division Two. Any person wishing to apply for this position should forward their CV to dannyparkerjr@hotmail.co.uk

The club, who continue to be one of the few in the county to run four teams, would welcome new sponsors and have a variety of different packages available.
