WINTERTON maintained their perfect start to the season with a four-wicket win over Yarmouth at the Beaconsfield to stay top of Norfolk League Division One.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl on a damp wicket Winterton's opening bowlers Ben Utting and Richie Larner conceded just 26 runs from 21 overs, taking three wickets in the process.

Yarmouth crept to 50, but Tom Roper continued his early season good form with the ball to take three quick wickets leaving the score on 54-7. The Yarmouth tail wagged as they reached 111-9 from their 45 overs with some lusty blows from R Ruddick (23 not out) and P Vickers (21).

The Winterton batsman found runs equally hard to come by and lost the early wicket of Dan Crawley. The experienced Bryn Clarke with a vital, patient 33 formed the backbone of the innings, with good support from Ben Webb (22) and a quickfire 15 not out from Ben Utting as Winterton got home in the 40th over for the loss of six wickets.
