GREAT Yarmouth's most successful ever kickboxer Bin Tyler will be getting a crack at the WKA Pro/Am World Lightweight Kickboxing title on Sunday, April 18, at the Ocean Room, Gorleston.

Tyler, the European, international and British champion has fought all comers since first winning the British Super Featherweight title from Ian Clancey in 1999.

He beat Irish champion, and former World title challenger, Sean Cumisky for the international title in 2008 and last December beat tough Polish fighter Daniel Naliwikjo for the European lightweight title by a second round ko.

Tyler, who was also British schoolboy and junior champion in both Thai and kickboxing from the age of nine to 17, has had over 100 fights, including 22 full-contact bouts as a senior, will be taking on French fighter Wesley Courville.

He was world amateur silver medallist and is currently both the French full contact champion and European “Savate” (French kickfighting) champion at 59 kilos.

Tyler will have his work cut out as Courville has only lost twice, both times to world champions. Tyler is training hard twice a day with coach Dave Munro and boxing coaches John Hutchins and Frank Crosswell to get ready for the biggest challenge of his career.

There will be a full bill of supporting bouts, including a top Irish junior team coming over to take on the region's best juniors. Other popular local fighters on the bill include Yarmouth's Thai champion Liam Plant, Dave Carson, Marty “Boy” Duke, Aaron Monson and Dan Gordon. Ipswich's Lucjan Lanainy, Pavel, and the exciting “Bosher”, and Norwich's area champion Melly Dunthorne and Duane Green.

This will be the biggest-ever kickboxing tournament to be put on in the Yarmouth area.

Tickets are available from the usual outlets.
