Yarmouth gets ready for ‘a little piece of Ascot on the east coast’

The glitz and glamour of June’s glorious Royal Ascot may be a fast-fading memory but the east coast’s own version is all set to sparkle on Tuesday, July 17.
That is the big date for all ladies who love dressing up as Great Yarmouth racecourse stages its annual Ladies’ Night.
There will be fashions galore to suit all tastes, prizes up to £1,000, Pimm’s, champagne and the sounds of the Lee Vasey Band.
“Ladies’ Night has become a must attend diary date for many and with a crowd of 5,000 expected to attend again, this year will be no exception. Our Premier enclosure has sold out for the last five years, as has our restaurant, so we strongly advise people to buy their tickets in advance, said Glenn Tubby, general manager at the course.
“The atmosphere is fantastic and we can offer a little piece of Ascot on the East Coast. Hats and heels will be in abundance and with £1,000 in Debenhams prizes for the best dressed ladies, it really is worth making that extra effort - everybody loves to dress up for that special occasion.”
Once the racing has finished, local group The Lee Vasey Band will be playing on the lawns. The judging of the best dressed lady takes place between the third and fourth race of the seven-race card and is free to enter. Gates open at 3.30pm with the first race at 5.50pm and the band beginning at 9pm. Tickets start at £14 when bought online. “It’s our big night of the year and I’m confident everyone who joins us will have a great night to remember,” added Glenn. There will be seven races on the card. Visit www.greatyarmouth-racecourse.co.uk or call 01493 842 527.
