Pub on the Shrubs Yarmouth Saturday League

After the generous winter weather so far into the season, last Saturday finally saw the first games of the season called off due to the weather as the league lost all matches on the day.

With the predicted forecast of poor weather for February, clubs are reminded that the proper procedure for games postponed due to bad weather is in the handbook and clubs who fail to ring the relevant people will be fined.

The league is also disappointed to announce the withdrawal of Norfolk and Chance from Division One. The committee has had a meeting as to what action to take and all club officials and registered players will be written to in due course. Due to this withdrawal and last week’s postponements all secretaries have been informed of game changes on the 25th via email.

This is also the final week of 2pm kick-offs for league games as it’s back to 2.30pm from next week.

This week sees Caister Roma chasing winners spot in Group Two of the Burgess Cup and Belton chasing winners spot in the HA Holmes League Cup ahead of the semi-finals.

The Great Yarmouth and District Football League is also now welcoming applications for 2012-13 season. The league is open to any club within a 14-mile radius of Great Yarmouth and clubs can be affiliated to either Norfolk or Suffolk football associations.

If your team or club is interested then please contact the league secretary on 01493 602345 or 07788 592529 who will be happy to help - Ryan Starkey.

Yarmouth Sunday League (Cliff Hotel)

With the only winner last Sunday being the weather, it’s a case of trying again this week. Clubs are advised to pay careful attention to this week’s opponents and venues, as chances are they are different from last week, and therefore won’t roll-over onto this week. The fixtures, if played are played this Sunday only, if they are not they will be played at another date. Any problems, please contact Glyn Gray on 01493 651261 or 07504 991058 - Glyn Gray.
