Yarmouth League cup shocks

CAISTER Community Centre became the first team into the Burgess Cup final after they overcame MK United Reserves 4-1 on the Beaconsfield.
Caister CC are still in with a shout of a second division, Burgess Cup, Percy Nockolds trophy treble. They will face the winners of Caister Youth v Belton. The final is on Monday, April 11, at 7.30pm on the Wellesley.
Belton continued their trophy hunting by defeating Wellington in a tricky-looking tie 3-2 in the quarter-finals of the Percy Nockolds Trophy. Belton advance to the semi-finals of a third competition with both semis being played on Wednesday, April 20, on the Magdalen playing field.
Another side who will join them in the semi-finals is Yarmouth Peelers who accounted for Norfolk n Chance 2-1. Peelers will be the last first division representatives left in the cup when the draw is done on April 2.
The two teams clash again in the league this week with both sides needing the points.
Catfield meanwhile accounted for Yarmouth United 8-1. Four more wins from the last six games will secure Catfield a sixth league championship.
Albion won a hard-fought game 4-2 at Yarmouth International to remain second while Bohemians in third lost at home to fourth-place MK United, who had Adam Hogg notch all five in a 5-3 win.
In Division Two, Martham A, still looking for their first point, ran Prostar Windows close but the visitors took the points 5-3. South Yarmouth are back in third after a 5-2 win at home to Carpathians at Halvergate. Caister Youth took the points as Arches could not muster a side.
Tomorrow, all games kick-off at 12.30pm except Martham A v Carpathians who kick-off at 2.30pm. All clubs have have now been sent fixtures for the rest of the season by email.

The league is open to teams inside a twelve mile radius and offers competitive football, a new club of the month scheme, plus results are on the Beach 97.4FM 90 minutes after full time.
