Great Yarmouth and District Football League

Burgess Cup ties produced some shocks as three of the top four sides in Division Two went out in the first round.

Feathers had a tough home game with 100 per cent Norfolk and Chance. However Feathers took a quick two-goal lead through James Hogbin and Lee Adcock. Chance are not at the top for nothing. Adam Flaxman's penalty then Chris King's far-post header levelled the tie. It looked like extra time in fading light before Leon Rouse of Feathers found himself one on one with Keil Copeland and his first-time shot found the corner in injury time to give Feathers a place in round two.

Last season's beaten finalists MK United Reserves looked to be cruising with a two-goal lead at Martham. But Martham fought back with three goals.

Carpathians, another side towards the top end, went down at a different-looking Caister A 4-1 while South Yarmouth sealed their place with a 6-3 win at Paperclip which included five goals for Paul Hubbard, who worked tirelessly all game.

Quarter finals draw: South Yarmouth v Caister United A, Martham A v GY United, Bohemains v Feathers, Gorleston Wanderers v Prostar Windows. These ties take place in January.

In the HA Holmes Division One League Cup played in group stages, MK United became the first team to qualify and didn't have to kick a ball as Hemsby Reserves' 2-0 home defeat by Lacons Arms means that MK are assured of a semi-final spot. But they still need to win their final game to clinch top spot.
