YARMOUTH ABANDONED

This afternoon's meeting at Yarmouth has been abandoned due to snow and the associated threat of waterlogging.

Clerk of the course Charlie Moore was met with a wintry scene early this morning and called a 9am inspection after a first look at 7.30am proved inconclusive.

However, further snow fell in the interim, forcing him to make an early decision.

"Unfortunately, we've had to abandon as the situation has got worse," said Moore.

"We've had about three flurries of snow since earlier. The tarmac here had been clearing but it was then covered with snow straight away again.

"Also, even if I wait, the risk now is huge that we'll also have waterlogging on the track, so it's unfortunately an inevitability.'
