The Aston Berry Great Yarmouth Sunday League

THE top three places in the first division are separated by just two points following the weekend's round of matches.

Camden Tavern defeated leaders El Sol 2-0 to jump into pole position on 10 points with El Sol sitting second on nine points.

In third come Arches who gave Norton a lesson on Mill Lane, running out 7-3 victors after storming into a 4-0 interval lead, including a hat-trick for Louis Holdsworth.

As is the tightness of the division Hembsy, who recorded a 3-1 win in their derby match with Sunningdale, jump up three places into fourth on four points but they have played more games than anyone else. Sunningdale remain rooted to the bottom and still pointless, this being their fourth straight loss.

The battles between the top two sides in the second division turned out to be a non-contest as Windmill ran out 7-1 winners at Rollesby as the two sides swap places.

Even at this early stage it looks like the remainder of the division are playing for second, and Acle Wanderers did their chances no harm at all with a solid 1-0 win at Belton United.

There was a terrific 2-1 win for Gorleston Albion against an out of sorts Caesars Bar who slipped to the foot of the table following Camden Tavern Reserves' tight 3-2 win against Hembsy.

Sun FC remain top of the third division despite being inactive, whereas Star and Garter closed the gap to three points as they maintained their perfect start with a 7-2 win against the youthful Mariners Compass.

Memphis Belton remain in the mix following their fine 5-2 win at Crown Stores for whom the wheels seem to have come off following their fine start to the season.

Rumbold Arms, who are behind on their games compared to the rest of the division, recorded a 3-1 win against Carpathians whilst Venture Albion netted their first win by a single goal at Bohemians.

On Monday the league held a club meeting at which draws were made for the two KO competitions.

The quarter final line-up of the

KO Cup will be: Gorleston Albion/Rollesby v Memphis Belton/El Sol, Rumbold Arms/Hembsy FC v Crown Stores/Sun FC, Sunningdale Boys/Arches v Bohemians/Carpathians, Star and Garter/Belton United v Camden Tavern/Windmill.

The quarter-final of the KO Plate, which will be played next week, sees the following fixtures: Mariners Compass v Hembsy SSC, Acle Wanderers v Venture Albion, Camden Tavern Res v Norton Athletic, Newtown Golfers v Crown Stores.
