Yarmouth swim juniors lead the way

Swimming in the first round of the Suffolk Junior League at the Phoenix Pool on Saturday Great Yarmouth A came first with 225 points, Lowestoft/O/B A 205 Deben A 201,Thetford 171, Waveney 79,

The 10/u saw first places for Hannah Ingham Freestyle, Emma Gordon Fly, Honey Harvey Backstroke, and a second in Breaststroke. For the boys Scott Ribbons stayed on the winning trail with a first in Freestyle, and a second in Fly. Two good second places came from Billy Heseltine Breaststroke and Tommy Chandler Backstroke.

The 11/u girls again came out on top with two first places for Atlanta Jarvis Backstroke and Breaststroke, and a first and second for Jenna Utting Fly, and Freestyle. The boys found tough opponents but a second came from Miles Houghton Backstroke a third for Joshua Ford Freestyle, and a fourth for Aaron Hudson Breaststroke.

The 12/u girls continued their success with two fine first places for Amelia Driver Freestyle, Backstroke, and battling swims saw second places for Lauren James Breaststroke, and Fly. Joseph W Freeman swimming well in the 50m Fly was just pushed into second place. Jack Collins although recording a new pb in the Freestyle had to be content with second place.

The 13/u saw Bethany Burwood win the 100m Breaststroke in a stylish swim and a second in Fly.Danielle Page Freestyle, I/M and Taylor Hudson Backstroke both got third places. Alexander Goff led from the start to win the Freestyle but just missed out in the Fly. Not to be outdone Oliver Tedstone came in with a win in the I/M and a third in the Breaststroke.A third place from Jake Honey Backstroke saw a good points total.

The B team was also competing in the league at Sudbury and came third. Sudbury 232, Beccles 187, Great Yarmouth B 147, Deben B 126, Lowestoft /OB B 107,

The 10/u got off to a good start with Grace Leech first Breaststroke, Fly, and Jenna Martin first Backstroke, second Freestyle both in top form.Sam Skuse continued good form gave him a first place Breaststroke, with Ryan Webb coming fourth in Freestyle.

For the 11/u girls a second place came from Clarissa Burwood Breaststroke and a third for Tamzin Freeman Fly. Morgan Clarke swimming his best yet won the Backstroke with third places for Connor Howes Freestyle, and Luis Boulton Breaststroke.

The 12/u saw close races but both girls Kioni Broomfield Freestyle, Fly, and Natasha Mansfield- Holly Backstroke were edged into third places. Luke Daine got a second place in Freestyle and a gallant 50m Fly swim from Ashin Seeful saw fifth place.

The longer distance in the 13/u brought a third for Loretta Askew and fifth places for Ellen Glazebrook and Laura Belt. The boys found it equally as tough with thirds from Tom Carding Backstroke, and Thomas Clarke I/M, ending a busy weekend.
