AC Mill Lane u13 started their day off by spending time with their new sponsors Yaxley’s Taxis. Massive thanks go to all at Yaxley’s Taxis from all at AC Mill Lane for their very generous sponsorship. The boys then had another photo in their new jackets that are very kindly sponsored by BLI Haulage. They then went on to play Waveney Jaguars in the cup and started without the injured Dalton plus Harvey, Tristan and Toby. The game started off evenly but after 11 minutes Chester headed through to Jack to score. Jack then rounded the keeper and unselfishly let Toby tap in for his first of the season. Tristan then slotted the ball through to Jack to score again. Chester then put Jack through and he clinically clinched his hat-trick and was then moved to defence. Ivan, who had an excellent game in defence, then slotted Harvey through to put the ball in the bottom corner. The Jags scored a well-deserved goal before the free-scoring Hayden had a goal disallowed for offside. However, Harvey then put the ball through to Chester who finished well for 6-1. Macey, Harry, Max, Camron, Fabian and Curtis all deserve a mention for good, solid displays. MoM was Marcus for a great all round display. CMoM went to the hard-working Tristan.
Bohemians Galaxy U12 enjoyed a great morning for football and made the short trip to Walmer Road. Galaxy were without Joshua due to injury. The first 20 minutes saw the away side play lovely passing football with the defence playing out from the back and the midfield bossing the game, Joey pulled off a couple of saves but as the half grew the home side started to gain a foothold in the game and from a corner a bundled header opened their account. The second goal was a super strike from just inside the Galaxy half giving the keeper no chance. In the second half Galaxy were slow to switch on a in a 10 -minute period a further three goals were conceded. In the last five minutes the boys did pick themselves up and started to play quick football again. The game was another valuable lesson in the top tier, although Galaxy were not totally outplayed or outmuscled, the home side simply made the 50/50 balls theirs and they seemed sharper to the ball than the away side. Bohemians Comets U12 welcomed Waveney Panthers to New Road, for their fourth league game of the season. Previous encounters over the years have been tough, so another one was to be expected. The visiting side looked more up for it at the start of the match, being first to the ball and showing themselves to be a more physical team, however they did not create any chances. As the half wore on Comets grew into the game, matching the strength of Panthers, and Conal came close to opening the score, after being set up by Ethan, with the opposition keeper rescuing his side with a good save. On 22 minutes Bohemians deservedly took the lead, with a fine move, Ethan playing the ball to Conal who beat two defenders, and then squared the ball to an onrushing Harley who smashed it into the roof of the net. The start of the second half was a carbon copy of the first, with Waveney being in possession of the ball, but the competitive edge of Comets was out in force, and they were winning the ball in midfield or managing to clear their lines in defence. It was Comets who went closest to a goal but Harley hammered the ball against the bar. The last 10 minutes became a bit scrappy, with Panthers becoming more desperate to get an equaliser, but the Comets boys really dug in. Callum in goal marshalled his area well, with the defence and midfield in front of him outstanding. Next week, first cup game of the season, Bohemians Meteors at New Road, 10.30am kick-off.
Bohemians Meteors U12 had their first game of the season away from New Road which ended with a disappointing result, as they went down 3-0 to Waveney Cougars. Playing with the slope and wind in the first half, Meteors were well on top, forcing numerous corners and creating some clear chances. But despite a number of scrambles, some last ditch defending and brave goalkeeping from the Waveney keeper meant the score somehow remained goalless at half time. Waveney then took the lead with their first attack of the game at the start of the second half. Even after going behind Meteors were still on top, but again missed some good chances and Waveney defended well. A second Waveney goal halfway through the second half meant there was no way back, and Waveney scored a good third goal in the last minute. Next week, Bohs derby versus Comets in the Cup, kick off 10.30am.
Bohemians U12 are still looking for players to complete their squads. They have teams in the first and fourth divisions. Boys and girls of any abilities are welcome, and must be in either school years 6 or 7. Please contact Richard on 07415 381656.
FREETHORPE U7 played away against Heigham Park. It was another even match which could have gone either way. Eddy and Fraser played a half in goal and both made saves. Tobias twisted and turned the opposition all over. Rhys had a solid game at the back and rarely got beat. TJ and Alfie worked hard in midfield and showed some nice touches. Josh carried on, so not to let the team down although not feeling well. Nevie was always looking to take the game to the opposition with attacking runs. Special mention for MoM Ross, back to his inspirational best.
FREETHORPE U7 played away against FC Bradwell Cyprus. Both teams were evenly matched an a good game for spectators. Nathan and Joseph both showed bravery to put themselves in goal. Finley had a very good game showing great potential. Jaiden and Jaime made important tackles. A special mention for Sammy, MoM.
GFC Youth U9 TornadoES were away and between them and their opponents put on a tremendous spectacle of football. There was end-to-end fast flowing football, great saves, the woodwork hit, great goals and committed tackles. Luke, between the sticks was outstanding, including an excellent last ditch save after trying to put his boot on. Samuel was a rock at the back. Ollie and Freddie covered every blade of grass. Joe, Luca, Jayden, Jenson and Lincoln worked tirelessly in midfield and Dylan led the line up top very well. It’s always difficult to select a single player but special mentions to Freddie who took his goal on the volley superbly and secondly to MoM Samuel who was an absolute rock at the back.
GFC YOUTH U9 TornadoEs played their first home game his season against their neighbours. There was a great battling performance from everyone. Outstanding performance again from the whole squad and this week’s MoM Luca who was strong in the tackle and used the ball well.
GORLESTON U8 HURRICANES travelled to Harleston. There were positive forward runs and high tempo pressing by Harry, Finley, Samuel, Josh and Corbyn. Samuel and Finley pulling off some great saves in goal and Alfie commanding at the back once again. Man-of-the-match was Mark for his magical supporting runs after breaking up the ball in midfield.
GORLESTON RANGERS U13 OSPREYS played their Division One club side Eagles in the first round of the cup. With three straight wins and confidence high Ospreys continued where they had left off last week passing and attacking at every opportunity, taking the game to the Eagles. They were soon rewarded when Sammy hit a fantastic shot to make it 1-0. Within minutes it was 1-1 after conceding to a scrappy goal. Ospreys didn’t drop their heads and Sammy was put through from a lovely ball by Taylor and bravely slotted the ball past their keeper to make it 2-1. A couple of soft goals before half time seemed a bit harsh on the Ospreys who were more than a match for their opponents. In the second half Eagles stepped up their game and pressed forward causing problems for the Ospreys, who had to change personnel and formation due to injury and illness. In the second half a further couple of goals from Eagles put the game out of Ospreys’ reach despite the determination of Tristan, Leo, Liam W and Taylor. Final score was 5-2. GORLESTON RANGERS HAWKS U8 were away to Martham and were in great form even with a depleted squad. Both teams passed well and played as units not individuals. Brodie opened up the scoring and then made a great pass to Jude for the second, Brodie then assisted Bailey for a well-taken goal. Brodie then got his second from a corner. Jude and Bailey then both scored again, Jude assisted Brodie for his third and Brodie scored another from a corner. Martham then scored from a great corner. In the second half Hawks’ strength showed with Bailey scoring another four and Brodie a total of nine. Jude scored another two to end up with four. Jude and Brodie assisted each other and Bailey realy well all match with some classy passes. Henry and Lewis made some great tackles and Lewis’ passing was spot on. Harry made some class saves against a competitive Martham front line.
MARTHAM U13 made the short journey to local rivals Hemsby. With a brisk wind in their faces Martham scored first with a blockbuster from Ethan off the underside of the bar. The next 10 minutes were very even with the Martham defence of Sophie, Ollie, George and Aiden holding firm. Hemsby equalised following a harsh penalty which Jack nearly saved. This just seemed to galvanise Martham and the second half was probably the best football they have played, from the front to the back every player excelled. Following a foul on the edge of the box Martham scored again with a goal from Innes to retake the lead. Martham could and probably should have scored more goals. Final score 2-1 to Martham. Well played Millie Kobe and Kai up front, Innes, Charlie L, Charlie C and Ethan in the midfield, Aiden George, Ollie and Sophie at the back, and Jack in goal. Next game home to Bradwell Spain 10.30 kick off, meet at ground 10am.
ORMESBY LADS TIGERS U8 welcomed K&P Jesters to Station Road for their second home game of the season, Danny started in goal and was soon in action. Lewis opened the scoring with a typical run and good finish and soon added a second. Then it was Jesters turn to get on the scoresheet. Jamison played well in defence with Ethan supporting him. Kye found the net after excellent attacking runs in between good spells for the Jesters when they got back into the game. Harley battled well in midfield and Ryan showed good concentration when going forward. Luca made some strong challenges to break up attacks and Danny, now outfield, attacked well and brought good saves from the visiting keeper. Lewis took over in goal and made some good saves as Jesters put pressure on the home side. MoM was Lewis, good goals in first half and great goalkeeping in the second. Next game against Waveney Pumas at Barnard’s Meadow, kick off 11.15am.
ORMESBY LADS TIGERS U8 for the visit to Waveney Pumas Ormesby were without Geethanen and Jamison. The home side scored first before Kye equalised with a good strike. Lewis made some energetic runs and Harley tackled well. Ryan kept the defenders occupied with good movement and Ethan showed great pace and awareness in defence. In the second half Luca went in goal and made some great saves. Both sides created openings and eventually both found the net with Danny capping a solid performance by stroking home a neat finish for his seventh of the season. Kye had several chances but was either just off target or thwarted by the keeper. MoM was Harley for good all-round play. Next match v AC Mill Lane, kick off 10am at Station Road.
