Caister Centurions U11 played their final league match against Bradwell which turned out to be their most important; avoiding defeat would mean that all the hard work over the last seven months would keep them in the first division. Bradwell started the brighter team, however good defensive play by Daniel and Jay and good handling in goal from Thomas “clean-sheet” Bevan kept Bradwell out. Caister gradually gained control with Zak working hard in midfield and spreading passes left and right; Alfie continuing his great run of form winning tackles and feeding Logan good ball. Caister took the lead when Logan fired home from inside the box and Alex almost doubled the lead when his shot hit the crossbar. Bradwell came back strongly at the start of the second half but were unable to penetrate Caister’s hard working defence. Richie was now his commanding self, stopping the dangerous Bradwell right-winger. Will the “wing-wizard” George was now in full flow and put Caister two up midway through the second half. Alex moved back into midfield and with two sublime passes set up Logan to score his second and third goals and a much deserved hat-trick. Bradwell did push Caister right to the final whistle and the final score of Caister 4, Bradwell 0 did not reflect how close the game was, but Caister did edge the game on the day and did deserve a win to secure their Division One status. MoM: Richie, played a massive game for the team when it needed it most.

Shrublands U10 kicked off their last game of the season against an in-form Blundeston Magpies side. This was a must win game for us. Simply win this and we win the league. The Magpies had other ideas. With two key players, Josh and Shaun away with family, the players had to put in extra effort. We started off with our trademark “we’re still in bed” first 15 minutes, and Magpies took the lead with a well-worked goal. This woke us up and we started to have a few efforts on goal. Louis, Jaydn and Taiven all coming close, but we found the Magpies keeper in good form. At half-time we were 1-0 down. In the second half, or Shruby half as its now known, the boys were superb. From the kick-off we were up for it. Lucas, Izzy and Cameron were so solid from the back. A joy to watch. Jaydn, Taiven and Harry covered every blade of grass. Louis defending brilliantly from the front. We drew level early second half when Louis took a corner which fell to Harry to slot home. More chances came and went. With 10 minutes left to go, Harry picked up the ball in midfield and passed through to Louis, who took one touch and smashed the ball in with a rocket of a shot. Shrubs held on to the end to win the game and win the league title. Special mention to Henrique for supporting the team from the sidelines. Well done boys. You really do deserve this.
