LOCAL instrumentalists and singers form Great Yarmouth and around the region will combine for a special concert at St Margaret's Church, Lowestoft tomorrow evening for the British Legion.
It is raising funds for British servicemen men and women who are returning from war zones. Great Yarmouth organist and pianist John Farmer will be performing some of his favourite works and will accompany four sopranos Mary Hardy-Green, Gill Whiley, Rebecca Bentley and school-girl Sophie Butcher who will be singing in her first classical concert together with Gorleston baritone Simon Lawlor. He will be singing the famous Mario Lanza song I'll walk with God as one of his solos.
Other music will include arias by Franck, Handel, Mozart and Strauss as well as the modern version of The Lord is my Shepherd, featured on TV's Vicar of Dibley, and the popular You raise me up. Classical guitarist Richard Whiley will also be appearing and play Spanish styles.
The concert is at 7.30pm, entrance by programme at the door, £7, all classes, refreshments will be served.
