HERE are laughs a-plenty to be had at the Gorleston Pavilion over Christmas with the pantomime Aladdin.

The story of old Peking has been revitalised for 2008 with a strong cast led by Helen McDermott together with panto dame Mark Hudson as Widow Twankey and a young cast including Lisa Hunter as Aladdin, Shani Cantor as Princess Jasmine and Thomas Howes as Wishee Washee.

Attracting the boos and hisses is the baddie Abanazer played by Nick Murray Brown.

Teenager Shani Cantor is the sixth generation of her family in show business and at only 16 she is likely to become a major name in entertainment in the future. Lisa Hunter has a string of professional engagements behind her including an appearance in ITV's Footballers Wives.

Lighting and sound effects by Steve Davies and Derrick Carter. The scenes are held together by the dance routines by the girls of the June Glennie School of Dance and one scene to look out for is the cave of the jewels.

Aladdin can be seen at the Gorleston Pavilion and runs until January 4 including Sundays. For box office and further information, call 01493 662832.
