CHRISTMAS came early to the Andover House boutique hotel in Great Yarmouth on Friday when panto dame Mark Hudson and slave of the ring Helen Mcdermott turned up to receive some plates need for this year's pantomime.

When hotel director Victoria Newstead read in the Mercury that plates are smashed in one scene were needed, she remembered a few boxes of old plates from the previous owner that were not going to be needed by the hotel.

There was only one proviso for the plates to be donated and that was for the panto dame and slave of the ring to be handed them in full pantomime costume.

Joining n the yuletide fun a little early, Mark, who also runs the Anglia Performing Arts Centre and Helen gladly obliged even though the temperature was hovering around 21c (70f). Both said it would be good to get out of the costumes afterwards.

Helen and Mark appear in Aladdin and his Wonderful Lamp at the Gorleston Pavilion from December 15 until January 4.

More plates are, however, needed. To find out more call 01493 662832.
