For a third consecutive year, an antiques gala evening is being held in St Nicholas Parish Church, Great Yarmouth, to raise money for its Preservation Trust and for Palliative Care East.

During the evening guests may have antiques appraised by well known antique dealers Peter and Valerie Howkins, Frank Hume and David McDermot. Malcolm Ferrow will also be in attendance.

John Stephens, Church Organist, will give a brief, illustrative talk of the problems with the organ and will give a short recital. The ticket price of 10 will also include a buffet. Not only does this event raise money for two excellent charities but, in previous years, it has been a great social event.

Charles Bycroft will be conducting an auction of several items which have been donated and anyone wishing to give an article to the auction or to the raffle should contact Malcolm Ferrow on 01493 663605.

The Palliative Care East Appeal has raised over 1.1m towards its target of 1.5m. St Nicholas Church is the oldest building in Great Yarmouth and has one of the finest organs in the country.

It is important that both are saved for future generations to enjoy.

Anyone wishing to attend this gala evening may buy tickets from the Priory Centre next to St Nicholas Church, Brahams Fashions at 16 Market Row, Great Yarmouth, or from the Palliative Care East Office, James Paget University Hospital, via 01493 453348.

Tickets will also be available in the Town Hall during the Maritime Festival tomorrow and Sunday.
