On Saturday, June 26 and the following day, at least 12 men's teams and 7 ladies teams will be playing the Great Yarmouth Classic, representing some of the top players in the country.

This is the fifth year that the event is taking place behind Joyland next to Britannia Pier.

Spectators are invited to come along and watch the game on the Central Show Court from a 250 seat grandstand that will be installed on the beach especially for the weekend.

The Volleyball England Beach Tour encompasses six high profile events at popular beach resorts around the country, culminating in a tour finale at Blackpool.

Play starts at 10am on both Saturday and Sunday with the ladies and men's finals between 2 and 3pm on Sunday afternoon.

A Norfolk school's beach volleyball event is also being organized for Friday, 25 June with at least 15 teams entered so far. To enter your school, contact Tomasz Morawski, Norfolk Volleyball Development officer on t.morawski@uea.ac.uk.

Marie Hartley, Great Yarmouth Borough Council's culture, sport and leisure manager, said: 'We are delighted to be working with Volleyball England again to bring this prestigious event to beautiful Central beach.

“The weekend is a great opportunity to watch top-class Beach Volleyball players in action on our stunning sandy beach.”
