Handbell ringers and local protgs are gearing up for a concert at St Nicholas Church, Great Yarmouth.

The East Anglian Regional Handbell Team made up of 34 handbell ringers from the counties of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk will perform under the leadership of Tim Willetts.

Most handbell ringers belong to smaller groups and with East Anglia being geographically large and individual teams spread out, the Regional Team gives members the chance to ring more complex music on a larger range of bells. The team uses 200 handbells and over 120 chimes and play varied music.

Ringers will be joined by solo performances from local musicians including Maxim Calver from Gorleston. The 10 year old is at the Yehudi Menuhin School and he will perform a cello solo.

The concert is planned for May 22 at 7.30 p.m. at St Nicholas' Church, Great Yarmouth. Tickets are 7 with concessions at 5 available from Keith Meader 01603 873385 or on the door.
