THERE are still places available at the Ele the elephant workshops starting next Friday and continuing on June 19 and 26 and on July 3. The workshops are free and open to people over 50.

They are being held at The Kings Centre, Southtown, Great Yarmouth from 10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm-4.30pm. People can stay as long as they like at each session.

Textile artist Kate Munro will be on hand to help and advise.

Organisers are hoping people will take along their memories of Great Yarmouth to cover and decorate Ele. But don't worry: your original will not be used, it will be copied, so you won't lose a valued treasure.

The project is being organised by SeaChange Arts, Ageless Opportunities and the local Alzheimer's disease support group. Kate Platt, of Ageless Opportunities, said: “This is an exciting chance for local people to decorate Yarmouth's own elephant. You don't need to be 'arty' to come and take part: just to want to come and join in the fun of decorating an elephant!”

Just turn up for the workshops, or call Kate on 01493 743000 to find out more.
