CHILDREN are being challenged to make 1,000 model baby turtles and in the process extend a vital lifeline to threatened wild turtles.

Youngsters with time on their hands over the summer holidays are being urged to fashion a baby sea turtle using any materials they like.

They are also being asked to collect sponsors to raise a minimum of 10 each - with every penny raised helping to build a new Sea Turtle Rescue and Wildlife Centre on the Greek island of Zante.

Children wanting to help can download a sponsor form from the conservation page at www.sealife.co.uk/research.php

Proceeds and models can be sent or delivered any time before Sunday, August 29, to the Sea Life Centre at Marine Parade, Great Yarmouth, NR31 3AH.

In return they will get a free Sea Life Centre admission, and whoever raises the most cash will win a Sea Life Annual Pass entitling them to free admission to every UK and Irish Sea Life Centre.
