SWEENEY Todd needs more customers from Great Yarmouth - as plans progress to bring the musical to the Marina Centre stage in February next year.

This version of Sweeney Todd - the Demon Barber of Fleet Street is being organised by students from various high schools and performing arts colleges in Yarmouth under the direction of Dragons Stage Schools.

Director Nigel Alexander said: “Most of the principal parts and selected chorus have been cast and rehearsals have started. But here are still over a dozen opportunities for additional chorus members aged between 12 and 19 to join the young enthusiastic cast.”

The musical by Stephen Sondheim contains songs which will be familiar to the audience following the film version. Mr Alexander says that the show has some extended scenes.

He said: “Josh Colman has been cast as Sweeney Todd and there are many opportunities in what is a very active and busy show. For those who would like to take part there will be auditions at the end of September.”

All weekly rehearsals will be held at Caister High School on Wednesday evenings.
